Get your team outside, curious and connected
What if your next team experience involved getting away from the screens and paying attention to what is growing all around you, within Amsterdam?
I lead engaging, practical nature experiences for companies and groups in Amsterdam, helping people discover the edible, medicinal and simply fascinating plants growing in the city.
These experiences are designed to be enjoyable first and foremost — but they can also support employee wellbeing, team connection, sustainability goals and a stronger sense of place.
I have been teaching urban foraging and nature-based skills in Amsterdam for more than 15 years, and my work brings together practical plant knowledge, herbalism, ecology and a genuine curiosity about the living world around us.

Foraging walks
A guided urban foraging walk is a great way to experience Amsterdam differently.
Depending on the season and location, we might encounter edible and medicinal herbs, trees, flowers, fruits, fungi and poisonous plants — learning how to recognise them, understand their relationships with the environment and, where appropriate, use them safely.
My walks are relaxed, curious and hands-on. They are not about turning everyone into expert foragers in an afternoon. They are about looking more closely, learning something unexpected and reconnecting with the landscape around us.
Walks can be delivered in English or Dutch.
More than foraging
A corporate experience can also be built around other aspects of urban nature, depending on what your team is looking for.
Possibilities include:
🌳 Urban Nature & Wellbeing
A gentle guided experience designed to slow things down, get outdoors and pay attention to the living landscape.
🌳 Plants, People & Place
Explore the plants growing around us and the stories, traditions and practical uses that connect people with them.
🌳 Trees, Woodland & Biodiversity
Discover the ecological relationships within an urban woodland and explore how cities can support more diverse living systems.
🌳 Seasonal Plant Experiences
Each season brings something different. Spring greens, summer flowers, autumn fruits, seeds and roots can all provide the starting point for a fascinating team experience.
🌳 Practical Herbalism
For groups who want to go further, a walk can be combined with a hands-on herbal activity such as making a simple tea, preparation or other plant-based craft.
🌳 Corporate Nature Projects
For companies looking for something more hands-on, I can also develop practical activities around gardening, habitat improvement, tree planting or other local nature projects, working with appropriate local partners and landowners.
Park Frankendael & Amsterdam-Oost
I have a particularly long-standing relationship with Park Frankendael, where I have been involved with the community for many years and developed and cared for public gardens, and continue to coordinate weekly gardening volunteers.
The park offers a wonderful setting for corporate groups: woodland, water, grassland, gardens and the historic Stijltuin are all within a short walk of one another.
Activities can also begin or end at Restaurant Merkelbach, situated beside the park’s historic Huize Frankendael. A coffee break or lunch can be incorporated into a longer corporate experience.

Tailored to your team
Planning your experience
Every group is different, so I begin with a conversation about your team, the occasion and what you’d like people to take away from the day. From there, we can choose a suitable location and create an experience around the season, your interests and the time available.
Experiences can be arranged for small teams through to larger groups, and can range from a relaxed guided foraging walk to a more immersive day combining urban ecology, wild food, plant knowledge, creativity and time outdoors.
Half-day and full-day experiences are available, with bespoke programmes and catering arranged where required. Get in touch to discuss your team and I’ll suggest an experience to suit.
A different kind of team day
A corporate nature experience can be much more than a walk. Time outdoors gives teams a chance to step away from screens and routines, explore their surroundings and experience something together.
Whether you’re looking for a relaxed team-building afternoon, a seasonal foraging experience, a deeper exploration of urban ecology, or a day combining nature, food and creativity, I’ll create a programme that suits your group and the time of year.
Experiences can include:
- guided urban foraging and plant identification
- seasonal wild food and medicinal plant knowledge
- urban ecology and biodiversity
- sensory and nature-connection activities
- hands-on making or creative activities
- seasonal food and tasting
- meeting rooms or private spaces for workshops, presentations and team sessions
- lunch, refreshments and other catering
- opportunities to slow down, explore and reconnect as a team
From a two-hour outdoor experience to a complete team day, Urban Herbology can help bring the different elements together — from a suitable green setting and private meeting space to guided nature experiences, workshops, lunch and refreshments.
