Guided walking tour in Oost; discovering the wild city
Facilitator: Lynn
Startpoint: Park Frankendael
Description: Join Lynn Shore for a guided walk through some of Amsterdam Oost’s green yet overlooked spaces, discovering the plants, trees, and other forms of urban wildlife living alongside us. We’ll look more closely at some of the species we encounter, explore their stories, uses, and ecological relationships, and consider how getting to know our urban neighbours can change the way we experience the city.
Spaces: 20

Multi-species encounters in Anna’s Tuin
Facilitator: Gwen
Startpoint: Entrance to Anna’s Tuin, opposite Restaurant Polder
Description: Discover the diverse community of species at Anna’s Tuin through your senses.
Spaces: 15

Heksjes pesto tour
Facilitator: A few Heksjes, supported by parents/Tamara
Startpoint: Heksjesboom in Flevopark
Description: The Heksjes are a re-wilded gang of primary school girls. They love food: making it, eating it, discovering it. They are experts in making wild pesto. Join them in Flevopark to hunt for and harvest nettles and other wild herbs, to make pesto in a mortar and pestle that can be eaten immediately with some tasty crackers.
Spaces: 15

(Walk/cycle to) De Groene Bibliotheek
Facilitator: Eelco
Startpoint: Tugelaweg 85 (Motuin doorbell 1)
Spaces: 10

Delve into the wilderness of Amsterdam Oost
Facilitator: self-guided
Startpoint: your choice
Description: We have prepared a map of the local plant folk and cared-for green spaces so that you can take yourself and anyone you choose on a walk, a run, a cycle through Amsterdam Oost. The map will be available in print at the Opening Ceremony, and available digitally for ticket holders.
Spaces: unlimited

13:30-15:00 – Craft Magic (various locations)

Windfall Arcana.Crafting Divination Cards from Organic Prints
Facilitator: Diana
Location: Park Frankadael
Description: We’ll wander the nearby parklands to forage skeleton leaves, acorn caps, and textured bark, paint them with shaggy-mane mushroom ink, and hand-press them onto paper. Together, we’ll translate these organic prints into a bespoke tarot deck, listening to the shapes that emerge as we inscribe their symbols, archetypes, and intuitive meanings.
Spaces: 10

Shaping as you’re shaped; exploring nature connection through clay
Facilitator: Sanni
Location: Anna’s Tuin
Description: Explore your inner landscape and connection to nature through shaping local clay. Make a representation of your inner world; it can be anything — an animal, a landscape, a face, a tree, a memory, or completely abstract. Or make an ‘earth spirit’ and explore your nature connection through that; Let’s decide together what seems more interesting / fitting. We will be using nature materials from nearby / what participants have gathered during other activities that day like leaves, bark, rocks etc.
Spaces: 10

Weaving for Wildlife
Facilitator: Sameena
Location: Flevopark
Description: Under the willow tree we will weave natural birdfeeders together with willow to take care of the bird life this winter. We will also weave “Water Drops” with the same design to help purify our waters. The vision is to make as many as we can to hang all around trees in Amsterdam & in all the canals. Welcome to weave 🌿No experience needed.
Spaces: 8

Remembering Nettle Cordage
Facilitator: Tamara
Location: Anna’s Tuin
Description:  Nettles are amazing. Do you know they used to be an important resource for making cloth in Europe? In this workshop we explore the wonders of their long fibres to make cordage, from scratch, delving into those forgotten skills of stripping, combing and twisting to make natural cord that can be used for bracelets, weaving, tying, etc. After an initial learning curve, enjoy the meditative magic that returns to your fingers as they re-embody knowledge of our ancestors.
Spaces: 10

Living Mediums: Making Your Own Artist Charcoal from Local Willow
Facilitator: Ha-Nah
Location: Flevopark
Description:  Starting at the foot of a living willow, participants gather in quiet gratitude to discover the ancient craft of making charcoal directly from the land. You will mindfully process local wood, assemble a reusable metal oven, and guide your willow through fire, transforming it into rich artist charcoal. Rooted in creative autonomy and a deepening relationship to our plant kin , you’ll leave with your first custom batch, a reusable oven, and a lifelong practice of making art supplies in harmony with the environment.
Spaces: 8

15:30-17:00 – Mind Magic (various venues)

Land Grief: a workshop on reconnecting relationship with land and grief.
Facilitator: Sarah
Location: Flevopark
Description: In this workshop you will participate in understanding what soil means and how to transform grief of land loss/extraction into meaningful rituals and actions. We would love to hear folklores and stories of your family/community on how they grieve and appreciate the land.
Spaces: 10-15

Sensory encounter with a plant
Facilitator: Jules
Location:
This session invites you on a personal and sensory journey to meet one plant. Instead of asking ‘what is this plant is good for’ and relying on existing knowledge of the plant, we will go through a number of interactive exercises to tap into your intuition to tune into the plant’s qualities, form and effect on your senses through sight, smell, taste, and touch.  We will conclude with some stories of the folklore surrounding the mystery plant. Caution: Some of the activities involve tasting a plant. If you are pregnant or breast/chest feeding we advise against taking part in the tasting activities.
Spaces: 10

Practical magic; shape-shifting
Facilitator: Lynn
Location:  Park Frankendael – Orchards
Explore and experience how to shapeshift as a means to connect deeply with nature and work magic in the world. We will be outdoors, taking inspiration from, and communing with local, other than human life.
Spaces: 20

Magical documentaries
There is nature everywhere. We forget that easily in cities, a concentrated human-made environment. For anyone who would enjoy laying down at this point in the day and absorbing information passively, we have selected a documentary that we hope will change the way you look at the urban marsh you live in.

Guided meditations
Facilitator: volunteer, guided meditations prepared by Tamara
Location: Flevopark
Two recorded guided meditations are available to ticket holders to listen to as you sit on a bench or stroll through Flevopark. Take a moment for yourself and become aware of the magic of twilight, or journey into a plant.

17:30-20:30 – Closing Ceremony

Share soup around the fire. Intentional candle-rolling.
Storytelling, poetry, music, singing.

We are so excited to gather with you on 14 November!
With love from the organisers, Tamara, Diana and Lynn
