“Magic is full of Natural Secrets.” — Paracelsus
Magic doesn’t have to take you away from everyday life. It can begin with the tree outside your window, the birds on your street, the plants growing on your windowsill, the changing moon, the weather, the seasons and the particular corner of a park that you enjoy visiting.
This is the starting point for my The Green City Witch Course — a one-year, 13-Moon journey into nature, plants, animals, ritual, herbalism and the living world around us.
What does it mean to be a Green City Witch?
It means paying attention.
It means becoming curious about the plants and animals you encounter every day, learning their names and stories, noticing seasonal patterns and developing your own relationship with the natural world.
It also means discovering that you don’t need to live in a forest or have a cupboard full of mysterious ingredients to practise nature-based magic.
The city is full of allies.
The Green City Witch Course brings together practical knowledge, traditional wisdom, herbalism, ritual and magical practice in a way that is grounded in the real world — and particularly in the urban landscapes in which so many of us live.
A year of exploration
The course unfolds over 13 Moons, with new material opening every four weeks. Each Moon contains four sections:
Lifestyle & Rituals
Explore how magical practice can become part of ordinary life, from creating rituals and working with seasonal rhythms to developing greater awareness of yourself and your surroundings.
Allies
Meet the plants, animals and other beings that share your world. Learn how to notice relationships, develop connections and discover your own local allies.
Spellcraft
Explore the principles and practice of creating meaningful magic, working with intention, symbolism, plants, place and the natural world.
Techniques
Develop practical skills and explore different ways of working with nature, perception, ritual and magic.
The course is primarily online, allowing you to explore the material in your own time and return to it throughout the year.
There are also optional monthly lunch dates and ceremony gatherings in Amsterdam for those who want to meet other Green City Witches, share experiences and bring some of the work into physical space.
You don’t have to call yourself a witch
You don’t need to arrive with a magical practice, a particular tradition or a perfect knowledge of plants. This course is open to everyone.
You simply need curiosity.
Perhaps you’ve always felt drawn to herbs and wild plants. Perhaps you garden, forage, make herbal remedies or spend as much time as possible outdoors. Perhaps you’re interested in folklore, ritual or traditional magic but want to explore it in a grounded, contemporary way.
Or perhaps you simply have a feeling that there is more to the natural world than we usually notice.
The course gives you space to explore that feeling — while developing practical knowledge and skills along the way.
Look closer
One of the most rewarding things about working with nature is what happens when you start to look closely.
A plant stops being just a weed. Familiar birds become incredible beings, perfectly adapted to the city, seasonal patterns and your place in the local ecosystem all start to unfold.
Local trees become landmarks, teachers, sources of medicine, food, folklore or ritual.
The ordinary becomes interesting and the city begins to reveal itself quite differently.
Magic is full of Natural Secrets.
Perhaps some of them are waiting right outside your door.
The next Green City Witch Course begins 10 October 2026
Early Bird enrolment is now open. 12 Monthly payments of €19 currently available.
